April 6

just rolling thunder tumbling through the night
just rolling thunder; gone at morning light

howling wind shears through the space between
crumbling walls and windows; cracks and seams

she takes a step out in the hall
hoping someone will hear her call

frozen she stands too afraid
his shadow appears; she prays

I am invisible
you are forgivable

thunder rolls once more
hides the slamming door

breathless, she waits
this fear, she hates

silence wins
untouched skin

inhale
exhale

weep
sleep

just rolling thunder through the night
just rolling thunder; gone at morning light
