long to dance

it is the dance that she longs
to begin once again
after years of a monsoon
where the rain had washed away
every last step
and a river had emerged
swelling around her
pulling her down
sending her rapidly
downstream
losing her grip on thorned branches
she frantically tried to swim
for the receding shoreline
emptying out into
a basin of doubt
she tumbles
can she even remember
the rhythm
that will remind her
how to dance?
