let me breathe

I cannot breathe
when this air stands still
and there is pause before
the breaking
hurry dawn
open up and show me
the frenzied motion
of existence that I
throw myself into
and allow it to kidnap
my thoughts
because my thoughts
are too weak
to exist alone
when they have been played
like the underscore
in a scene
that I can not forget
let me breathe
in this light
as the sounds of life
drown out
the lyrics of my death
