different kind of love

it’s a different kind of love
the kind that fills buckets with sand
even when the hole in the bottom
seeps it on through
the kind that waits for the rain
to break open from the sky
even when a drought
has its grip on the days

it’s a different kind of love
as it speaks
when it is breathless
and it lingers
when it is has disappeared
and it holds on
when it has let go
