eyes salty

there she stood
at the edge of existence
eyes salty from the breeze
and the pouring out of her soul
onto jagged rocks
throwing her words
carelessly out
and she watched them
get swept under
and forgotten
an exhaustive mind
turning reason into rhyme
because words sheltered truth
and allowed her to believe
that it wasn’t time
to sail away
