a faded expression

thin masks
held before our face
a reflection
of who
they want us to be

breakable things
gathered around our world
a presentation
of what
they think we are

the honesty
of who
we truly are
and what
we truly want

and live
for the first time
how our hearts
ache to live

before we become
a faded expression
of a brilliant spectrum
trapped in our souls
