tree

in the park
there’s a tree
that shadows the earth
protecting and wise
on days filled with rain
you will find me standing
at its base
all alone
in awe of its strength

in its mass
this grand tree
that shelters my body
trusting and open
on days speared with light
you will find me sitting
at its edges
all alone
in love with its filter

in its stance
this brave tree
that fuels my soul
worn and gentle
on days concealed in white
you will find me laying
at its mercy
all alone
in search of hope

some days I feel
that the tree and I
are one

A nice tribute, Melissa. 🙂 Well-said. I feel the same way — obviously.
