I lay still

the cold night
traces my body
against the sheets
where every move
I make
leaves me hanging
on the edge
there is no valley
to keep me in
no mountains
to hold me up
no bridge
to lead me
to you
so I lay still
not to move
for fear
that I will fall
and the drop
will have no end
and my sighs
will have no voice
and you will not know
how to catch me
